Uric Acid and Long-term Outcomes in CKD: Abstract and Introduction: "In patients with stages 3 to 4 CKD, hyperuricemia appears to be an independent risk factor for all-cause and CVD mortality, but not kidney failure."

You may click the links to see the full article of what I just read. See, uric acid can be so bad and link to cardiovascular disease and mortality. It is not as simple as causing gout only. We need to be more aggressive on managing it.

The weakness of this article is there is only single measurement of uric acid only.
